brunch.
And the food journey continued at Brenda's for brunch the next
day. Nothing like fried chicken eggs benedict with creole hollandaise on
a creamy biscuit and apple beignets to follow a movie: 21 jump street.
Go watch it. The house party scene alone, left me nostalgic for
berkeley. Looked like so much fun...

bouchon.
Charlene was home for the weekend so the family made it out
to Yountville for a casual lunch. Bouchon has to be one of my favorite
bistros. Always prepares the best bread and pastries.
fresh & smoked salmon rillettes served with toasted croûtons
good ol' bone marrow
cod brandade beignets with tomato confit & fried sage
pan-seared prime flatiron, caramelized shallots & maître d'hôtel butter served with french fries
roasted chicken with mushrooms, sauteed sunchokes, caramelized artichokes
& chicken jus
beef bourguignon
white chocolate pot de crème with raspberry sauce.
Stopped at Kollar Chocolates for a few goodie bags before heading home. "coffee kahlua" was my favorite.
and some of the largest macaroons you've ever seen, for the road.
it's no surprise I've been gaining weight. yikes.

not paleo-diet friendly. but then again, neither is the cold stone ice cream I ate saturday. this two week kick is not going very well. workouts are also slacking with the 5 hours of television to catch up on.

peter luger steakhouse. the best steakhouse in new york city.
the waiter was not the friendliest dude, and really didn't care much for us. he was going to serve us, and we were going to like what he put in front of us. no questions asked. didn't even ask us how we wanted our meat done..
delicious and perfectly cooked, rare and medium rare. broiled the same way it has been since 1887.
