finally got to meet up with kim a couple days ago. we all needed to do some last minute shopping before vegas. but had to pick her up first.
unfortunately, kim is not the best with directions. no offense to kim of course. she's great. but we did get petty lost driving around stanford's ugly campus looking for the place. it's all construction and parking lots. and it didn't help that several roads were blocked. due to miscommunication, i.e. my hearing, we were going to her work place but she was at her apartment. we only had ferris's iphone for navigation. stressful. not to mention, my feet were killing me. I was wearing these loafers with medium width for the first time. they didn't have them in wide, and I do have wide feet. they felt a bit squashed, but the pain subdued throughout the day. I think that the leather was able to stretch out just a bit.
but here it is. the sign makes it look like some sort of military compound.
when I'm around kim, I swear she brings out the fat ass in me. I wasn't that hungry, but when we decided to go for a snack, I was craving one too. I think it's more so being around people who want to eat when I don't want to eat, rather than it being just her. she just likes to eat and likes other people to eat with her. and I like to eat, even when I shouldn't. it's essentially all me and my lousy self control. this is bad news for vegas.
gourmet franks. I got a hot link, ferris chicken apple, and lemon chicken for kim. another patron enterde and asked the worker what she recommended. the stupid worker read off the whole freaking menu. so we just gave our 2 cents. he went for the chicken apple.
they put the toppings for you. quite odd. I was adventurous and went with a little mayo (as my dad always does) in addition to my usual fixings. pretty good! kim was smart to go for the extra pickle on the side.
it was pretty good. but not the most filling. ferris was still hungry, which meant a mcchicken from mcdonalds. a "go to" item of his. surprisingly, only about 300 calories or so.
and we all just had to have a bite. I hate to admit how good it was.
we got some great deals and a lot of clothes that we could wear. I was stressing out a bit since I hadn't known we were going out for 3 nights, and I did not have enough clothes. but that's all good now. after a long day of shopping, we hung around the nordstrom parking lot looking up a place to eat. we wanted mexican food. also, the sky looked so good that night...
and then off to search. it was 9:30 and everything was pretty much closed. so celia's in menlo park it was.
we gorged ourselves on chips and salsa. we were sooo hungry. I needed to get to my happy place before I could converse, let alone decide what to order. water to drink. margaritas were too expensive. saving that for vegas.
I did finally get my tacos with flour tortillas. woohoo. (diet on hold?) enchiladas for the other two.
overall pretty good for a last resort. the ground beef not so much. we were a little bit rushed though. the restaurant kitchen was closing after all.
some last minute errands for the night included finding the nearest drug store so kim could stock up on items she didn't have. we ended up and the peninsula's most beautiful safeway.
I decided that I want to have hand sanitizer in the car at all times. you never know when you need to disinfect. smartest purchase ever.
kim got everything she needed but forgot the nail polish remover. unfortunate. but it was all good. so we went back to kim's place for a bit. sid had helped her decorate. it looked very comfy and lived in. not bad at all!
we each put on her eyeglasses just to see how bad kim's eyesight really is. wow. poor kim.
and then she insisted I feel her blister (from all that walking she does). it was really, how do I put this, soft. ehh. hope she gets better.
and here's her roommate mhehghehnahhhh's door. started with an "m" and then random "h"s somewhere.
funny!
and while dropping off ferris, the deer were out eating...quite the midnight snack.
good day.
