old friends, new places.

The last time I saw Ritchie, we had dinner at Pyramid the day before graduation in Berkeley.

Year and a half later, it's Ramen house in SF. Post udon noodles and sushi, followed dessert at Max's. The fatty that I am, I was sure to get some of their raisin rolls and butter while we waited for the sundae.

laziness leads to weight gain.

a few weeks ago, we all planned to carve pumpkins at yanik's place. it was a potluck type of event filled with chinese takeout, veggie chips, carrot salad, and pumpkin spice bread. well, we all were tired post meal, and decided to not carve pumpkins afterall. I decided to take mine home.

fast forward two weeks, I was craving that pumpkin spice bread carrie brought. I decided that I would make my own bread. I hollowed the pumpkin and roasted the seeds for a delicious snack, seasoned with spices. yum!

and then, I steamed the gourd and then pureed the "meat". I know baking is a science, but I still winged it. I loosely followed a banana bread recipe I frequent. swapped the banana for pumpkin, white sugar for brown and then some, and added molasses and spices (ginger, cinnamon, all-spice, nutmeg). definitely came out better than I thought! I'd say it was a good re-creation of the "original" inspiration. I meant to share this with people, but it was finished so fast. will have to remember what I did to remake it.

was lazy to carve. but then my fat ass got the better of me. I made this bread from scratch and basically ate the whole thing myself. lesson: should've carved that pumpkin.

and so begins the over eating associated with the holidays...

catching up.

three occasions:

[1] sushi dinner with catherine. went this this small place in glen park with the most delicious butter mints. I definitely walked out with about 20. really good food, but slow service. I'm going to need to go back and order the udon noodle soup.

no pictures of the rolls. too hungry, I inhaled them before I got the chance to snap pics.

[2] ferris and I met up for drinks with sarah papermaster and her sorority sister, lauren, in the mission. it was good seeing her while she was in town for a couple days.

it was my first time going to the elbo room. a fun, funky neighborhood place with lots of character. and easy parking to boot.

[3] stopped by youtube to specifically to get an its-it ice cream treat. man that thing is delicious. I want one now. ahh...vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal cookies. dipped in chocolate.

ferris's co-worker anjali was working that night, so we took a picture with this cool old-school polaroid camera on hand. the viewfinder was not very accurate and half of ferris's head was cut off. not to mention, there was only one piece of film left, so we couldn't retake it. fail.

three good times.

hi elita.

having fun at another google hangout.

funny enough, it noticed we were sleepy...

"last" day of october.

All events that took place on the 29th. What a busy day overall. I even surprised myself on how much I was able to pack in.

The plan was to go to Livermore to run through the corn maze. But being the group that we are, and given the fact we were hungry, a late lunch was the first priority. And what is better than burgers and crispy coated fries. I loved this place. Downtown suburbia, but so good. I'm craving this now.
Then off to the patch. It was pretty sunny, but not too hot. We all know how I don't do well in the heat/sun. A few dead ends led to frustration, but that is part of the fun. There were clues to getting out. In order to know if we should turn left or right, we would need to answer a series of questions correctly. Many of which were religious and corn based. We didn't bother solving any of the questions.
Funny people in the maze with us too. A littlechubby girl assured us she knew the way out, while her parents assured us she didn't.

Neighboring pumpkin patch and family activity fun.

Next on the agenda: nap.

Come night, headed out the mission. Ferris's co-workers became my new friends. A vegan housewarming inspired by Martha Stewart, no less. Well done!

Then out and about. Crazy costumes here and there. Even was a person dressed as a Twinkie handing out twinkies. (I later regretted not taking one) A dead on Hulk Hogan.
And even quite a few recognized that I was Marty McFly from back to the future. I think I did a pretty good job with this last minute costume. ...I just happened to have these items in my closet. (Reference pics for those that haven't seen the movies!)

I love that we retook this picture. At first it looks like she's wearing a sari, rather than a superman costume! ...courtesy of ferris's cowboy bandana.

Hot dogs to cap off the night..."who next? you want hot dog?", she shouted. friendly woman.
Well played. Well spent "halloween".
