goods in the making.

while charlene was home, we went all out on desserts (posted here). forgot I had snapped these pictures. just to share...it helps me pass those cravings.

a snack: turtle brownies. walnut fudge brownies with caramel.

for thanksgiving:
pecan bars fresh out of the oven. shortbread crust.

making the chocolate cheesecake. I had to remove the creams from two rows of oreos to make the crust. then stacked one row of them between two cookies. can't believe these things are vegan.

leftover filling makes a good chefs snack. had to test for quality control. man are these little ones good.

the red velvet and cream cheese frosting. she did a good job!

 the classic pumpkin.

I have to make these again for everyone to try. yum. gotta love the holidays.

back to blogging.

it's been a month and LSAT's over. I hope that was the last time taking it. I still have the option to cancel and that makes me unsure. I felt better this time, so I can only hope. but some people called it brutal. confusing.

had a delicious dinner saturday, courtesy of elita. she now lives in noe valley, which is great! it will make it all the more easier to visit her. quite a sizable apartment.

even with a broken oven, she made it work. roasted chicken, brussels sprouts, rice pilaf, and baguette and brie.  she also had us try some of her homemade strawberry jam. all delicious. I have to return the favor and cook for her (or at  the very least, buy her dinner).

the main event of the evening was building a gingerbread house. yanik came over to join in. also found out he works at a startup, which makes the ads that are used in echofon for twitter. now I can't stop but look for his ads every time I go on.

unfortunately, the gingerbread burned since the only setting for the oven was broil. so we were left using ak mak, the armenian cracker bread. very resourceful, not to mention healthy. the burned gingerbread was used for "furniture" (internal support) and "cobble stones" (did not work).

still it turned out great with all the add-ons. lots of candies and a modern roof with deck. I loved the sugar free wafers and was snacking on quite a few. I actually want some now. the pretzel m&m's were also really good. first time having them.

stained glass window by ferris.

success!

a game of a scattergories spin-off, scattergories categories. thanks ferris! really fun. can't wait to play again.

haven't had dim sum since '99.

kim and ferris chose a dim sum place for dinner. sid has never had it before. and I haven't had it since 5th grade. my dad ordered the chicken feet, and I was immediately turned off.

with this place, it was overall pretty delicious. I can't remember the name, but it was in downtown los altos.

I overate, big surprise. what I remember (since it was so long ago) was a talkative waiter. he spoke to kim in madarin most of the time. he spoke with ferris about middle east politics and where he's from. he called sid handsome. and he asked if I was chinese. I have really asian eyes in the pic posted.

It was all delicious. I loved the sticky rice. it was actually the one dim sum item I ordered. the other food was hard to eat since I don't like shrimp or pork. we got lemon chicken, beef, noodles and rice to go with the dim sum items. (rice was devoured before I had the chance to snap a pic)  it was all so good! probably some of the best lemon chicken I've had. I am a bit of a lemon chicken aficionado. I want some now. hungry. again.

warm bean "soup" for dessert. really too sweet. and beans always make for an interesting dessert. it was just okay, but I managed to eat most of it anyway.

a stop at safeway on the way back for a major dessert and wine session at the apartment. walnut fudge brownies, almond rocca, and andes mints. cheap wine: pinot noir and riesling (my favorite). discussing our futures, I mention that see myself as someone who looks nothing like myself. it's weird I know. weightloss is the first step. finding a job and getting into law school up there too.

always a good hangout. always a good time with these people.
