I went to dinner a couple days ago with julie and ferris at west coast cafe in good ol' san bruno. my ol' stomppin' grounds. just came back on the way from nrack. finally got my clarks desert boots, which I'm pretty excited about. ferris got some shirts for vegas.
with a high rating from yelp, it seemed like a good option. and surprisingly it was, given its location. not very diet friendly though. it's great being back at home now, because that means that I get to see more of julie. last week we went to elephant bar and then the marriott to study. good times. my working schedule has been quite piecey, but we all seem to find the time to meet up here and there.
the inside was cozy, but one of the first things ferris noticed was the tile flooring. apparently, not appropriate in a restaurant. the bread was really tasty. and the butter was soft. just the way I like it. only thing was that there was too much semolina on the bread (as evidenced below)!
julie ordered the lasagna, the house specialty. it said that it would take 15 minutes to make but it was pretty fast. delicious.
ferris ordered the fettuccine with sausage. quite good.
I had the west coast penne. with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and fresh asparagus. only bad part: it was really heavy. I felt a little sick afterward. not to mention guilty. I had a hard time sleeping due to the guilt. funny, because at the time I wished I asked for more parm. thank goodness I hadn't!
a loose yin yang formed with the olive oil and balsamic by the end of the night. pretty cool...
I didn't care for the our server. she definitely had an attitude. uncalled for. not to mention, she didn't give julie change for the cash! which meant a lower tip.
and there's no after dinner treat like ice cream. I was just watching the cooking channel the other day and seeing them make it really gave me a hankering for it. br31 it was. none other than the millbrae location. with dress barn only a couple yards away.
I sampled the lemon meringue ice cream. no sugar added. no good.
peanut butter chocolate for ferris. surprise, surprise.
we didn't know what to do with the sampling spoons, since there was no receptacle for them. they should do something about that. so here's ferris with two spoons.
the nice asian woman let me take a snapshot of the ice cream cake she was working on. mint chocolate chip. delicious!
mint chocolate chip is my go to ice cream, but I wanted to try something different. coconut and plum frozen yogurt.
jules got the rainbow sherbert. somehow reminded her of childhood. seems rather nasty. and a "waste" in ferris's opinion.
then off the julie's car to eat and chat. had a conversation about the safeways we go to. I normally have to go to the one in millbrae because the burlingame one is too small (not even a real full service deli might I add). but both are pretty ghetto. ferris and jule both have newly remodeled ones near their houses. I like the one by ferris especially. how lucky. they must both take it for granted. also talking about banking really makes me want to save more. but without a real job, I'm basically living off savings. no fun there. It's been so difficult!
later I took a pic of julie's to go box from the restaurant. ferris had a box as well. (maybe that's why I was feeling so guilty. I had eaten it all at the restaurant.) the server only labeled julie's box. and clearly could not spell lasagna. it looks like "lasegh" or something. stupid bitch. should've just put some sort of symbol or a letter...
twas a good night.
other things: finally cleaned my room. and changed my sheets. there's nothing like fresh sheets! still can't wait to go to vegas. (I'm counting the days.) and should sign up for testmasters soon.
Charles that was very entertaining and a great sum up of the evening!
